Vice President for University Advancement announcement

Following a national search, Tracy Ostrem named Vice President for University Advancement.

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

Following a national search, I am pleased to announce that Tracy Ostrem has been named our Vice President for University Advancement. Tracy brings more than 30 years of advancement experience with comprehensive campaign management at leadership levels with a well-established track record of record-setting performance in higher education. She begins her appointment on April 1.

Tracy’s advancement career launched at her alma mater, Washington State University, beginning a meaningful journey that eventually led her to the University of Washington. During her 25 years at the University of Washington, Tracy has led units in the execution of two major university-wide fundraising campaigns, the $2.7B “Creating Futures” campaign and the $6.3B “Be Boundless” campaign. During the former, she received national recognition for successfully leading the campaign for the top-ranked School of Nursing and tripling their philanthropic support. For the latter, Tracy was responsible for the successful execution of the College of Arts & Science’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date, raising nearly $600M, doubling fundraising levels from the college’s previous campaign.

Since 2022, Tracy has served as Principal for the Ostrem Leadership Group, which has collaborated with universities and non-profit organizations in meeting immediate and long-term fundraising needs. Tracy has been actively involved with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as a member of the District VIII Board of Directors, 2015 Conference Chair, and the 2012 Program Track Chair for Major Gifts.

I wish to thank Patricia Richard for serving as our Interim Vice President for University Advancement since 2023. Among many accomplishments, Patricia served as co-chair of our Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee and led efforts that resulted in several record-setting gifts to the University. The team in our Division of Advancement, which includes development, alumni and events, has continued to provide our University with excellence and achievement in their respective areas, and I am grateful for their work in making the University a better place for both current students and alumni alike.

I believe we have chosen an exceptional leader for our Division of Advancement who will be a thoughtful colleague and partner to all of the schools, colleges and units on our campus. Tracy will be a dynamic presence in engaging individuals and organizations in our community about the pivotal role our University plays in realizing an exciting future for Nevada. Tracy’s appointment is yet another positive step in stewarding meaningful connections throughout our campus community and the city, region and state that we serve.

Please join me in welcoming Tracy and her family to The Wolf Pack Family.

Go Pack!

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
President
