Dear Wolf Pack Family,
I wish to share with you some thoughts and information regarding this past week, which has seen a number of Presidential Executive Actions delivered by President Donald Trump. Several of these Executive Actions potentially have far-reaching implications for higher education in our country as well as for our University.
University leadership is monitoring all of these orders closely. The situation is still fluid, and it is not quite readily apparent what the long-term implications will be.
However, I wish to make it clear to everyone on our campus — students, faculty and staff — that the University is dedicated to maintaining an environment in which the members of our campus community feel safe, supported and encouraged to actively pursue their educational and professional goals.
Connecting with the best information, resources and support is always important in times of uncertainty. The University offers a number of opportunities to help members of our campus community.
The University has made a commitment to provide our undocumented and DACA students with a number of resources needed to successfully navigate the often-complex path in reaching graduation — academic support, educational protections and benefits, legal support, mental health support and more. Resources for undocumented and DACA students are available through our undocumented student program, UndocuPack.
University Counseling Services, as well as the Downing Counseling Clinic is available to help students. Faculty and staff can find assistance through the Employee Assistance Program. The University’s LiveWell Program is also available to help prioritize your well-being and navigate campus resources.
There are also a number of Student Life resources available, including the Center for Student Engagement, Multicultural Center as well as the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and First-Generation Student Center.
As we learn more about the status of many of the Presidential Executive Actions that have been issued this week, we will share the latest information and developments and keep you apprised as the impact of directives are made clear, and new directives are made available.
Throughout this new semester, let us all come together to ensure that all members of the Wolf Pack Family feel safe, welcomed and able to follow their educational and professional dreams.
Sincere regards,
Brian Sandoval
President
